Kollintzas, Laura, Faculty, 5th Grade

Ms. Kollintzas graduated from Deree College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and continued her studies in Great Britain, earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Early Childhood Studies from Roehampton University and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from the UCL Institute of Education. She is also a Certified Elementary Teacher for grades Pre-K to 6 in the state of Florida.

With 15 years of teaching experience across Pre-K, kindergarten, second grade, and fifth grade, Ms. Kollintzas has developed a deep understanding of learning progressions. An alumna of ͵ÅÄйÃÜ, where she attended from kindergarten through 12th grade, she has remained closely connected to the school community both as a student and educator.

Ms. Kollintzas has pursued extensive professional development throughout her career. She earned certification from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Educating Global Citizens and completed two additional courses on teaching the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which she integrates into the curriculum to foster conscious citizenship. She has also participated in numerous seminars and conferences, including the 2012 ECIS Conference, The Changing Landscape in Early Childhood Education, and the 2016 ͵ÅÄйÃÜ Colloquium, which explored innovative approaches to holistic education at ͵ÅÄйÃÜ. Most recently, she attended the 2025–2026 NESA Learning Futures Summit, which centered on conscious citizenship and digital literacy.

Her training includes workshops and courses such as Creating Respectful and Productive Learning Communities, Leaders and Learners, a conceptual math workshop with Mrs. Erma Anderson, Stanford University’s course on Creating Mathematical Mindsets, and training in the New Generation Science Standards with Dr. Abour Cherif. She also engaged in a year-long professional development program focused on literacy instruction using the Lucy Calkins reading and writing curriculum. Additionally, she contributed to the further development and fine-tuning of the Dogs in Learning curriculum for second grade. Finally, during the pandemic, Ms. Kollintzas participated in numerous webinars to enhance her expertise in online teaching, assessment, and supporting digital learners. 

In recent years, Ms. Kollintzas has conducted action research focused on fostering conscious citizens through literacy instruction by integrating the UN Global Goals. Beyond the classroom, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service and animal welfare. Since 2016, she has served as the advisor of the ST.A.R.T. Club (Stray Animal Rescue Team), originally founded by elementary students, which raises awareness and funds for animal shelters in Greece. She also proudly contributed to the ͵ÅÄйÃÜ initiative Youth to Youth – Home Project, developing curriculum and teaching English on a voluntary basis to unaccompanied refugee minors.

Passionate and enthusiastic about teaching, Ms. Kollintzas views her role as an educator as both crucial and transformative in shaping future global, ethical citizens. Her priority is to nurture a secure, supportive, and joyful learning environment that motivates students to become lifelong learners with empathy, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility toward the world around them.
