Roukounaki, Maria, Faculty, Art

Ms. Roukounaki studied Fine Arts and Technology and went on to complete an MA in Fine Arts at Middlesex University in London in 2001. Most recently, she graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in June 2024, finishing first in her class and receiving a scholarship in recognition of this achievement.

Alongside her artistic practice, Ms. Roukounaki has over a decade of experience teaching English as a second language in private schools in Athens and has served as an ESOL Oral Examiner for ten years.

As a painter, she has participated in exhibitions in London, Athens, and The Hague. In September 2024, she designed and created the Athens Democracy Award, which was presented to former President Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

She is currently in her first year teaching Art at the Academy and also serves as a Permanent Substitute in both Middle School and the Academy. She is actively involved in the Learning Commons, where she contributes to interdisciplinary learning and student engagement.
