Maggidis, Cynthia, Academy Attendance Coordinator

Cynthia Maggidis is an emerging artist and archaeologist whose interdisciplinary work bridges fine art, classical studies, and contemporary practice. Born in Greece and raised in the U.S., she holds a B.A. in Art, Archaeology, and Art History from Dickinson College (2016), where she trained across a range of studio disciplines including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and photography. Her early focus on figurative charcoal work laid the foundation for her continued exploration of the human form.
She earned her M.F.A. in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (2019), where she deepened her theoretical understanding of art history while evolving her practice practice incorporating charcoal, pastel, fabric, paper, and woodblock print. Following this, she pursued an M.A. in Greek and Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2021). Her research explored the intersection of fine art and archaeology, culminating in a thesis on the prototype of Classical Sculpture, with a focus on the Athena Medici. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Classical Sculpture at the same institution.
Alongside her academic research, Cynthia has developed extensive teaching and outreach experience, leading workshops, tours, and educational programs for learners of all ages. Her teaching practice emphasizes both technical skill and critical engagement with the cultural and historical contexts of art, fostering connections between classical traditions and contemporary creativity. She encourages students to see art as a living dialogue between past and present. Her dual identity as artist and archaeologist continues to shape her creative and academic work. Drawing from her studio training and classical scholarship, Cynthia explores how ancient forms and ideas inform modern artistic expression. Through her projects, research, and teaching, she seeks to illuminate the enduring relevance of classical art in today’s world.
Cynthia is excited to begin this new chapter with ͵ÅÄйÃÜ. She looks forward to immersing herself in the community, embracing new opportunities, building meaningful connections, and continuing her personal and professional growth.
