Basic Function and Scope:
The Middle School Monitoring Aide performs a variety of support tasks to assist the faculty and the Principal. This role encompasses clerical support, direct monitoring of students and being in the classroom when needed.
Duties Performed:
- Provides learning experiences in an environment conducive to student learning and engagement.
- Directs group activities for assigned students.
- Assists in monitoring students as directed by teachers and administrators.
- Being in the classroom as needed.
- Supports and enforces classroom policies.
- Prepares classroom materials for distribution.
- Demonstrates appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity among individuals, ensuring equitable opportunities for student learning.
- Exhibits positive and effective classroom management skills.
- Supervises students during recess, lunch, or early morning periods outside.

Work Contacts:
The Middle School Monitoring Aide interacts daily with various school personnel, including the Administrative Assistant, the Principal, faculty members, other aides, and parents. There is also daily contact with students.
Independence of Operation:
While all work is monitored by teachers and/or the Principal/Administrative Assistant, the Middle School Monitoring Aide is expected to maintain order, safety, and an optimal learning environment through direct contact with students. Once routine work is explained, the aide is expected to work efficiently, effectively, and independently to complete tasks.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field in education.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with children ages 6-12 and/or 12-18 in an educational setting, preferably in groups.
